This year I have seen some wild things. It is a twenty first century after all and a pandemic world wide took place. Another item that I saw this year that actually shocked me and took me completely by surprise was the blackening toothpaste that seems to be turning up everywhere. Yes charcoal is now a huge product in the dental hygiene world. That is the new rage and even the biggest toothpaste makers are using it. Crest just came out with it this year as well and it is now no longer a boutique item. Instead it has now become mainstream to open your mouth and brush what looks like dirt onto your teeth. So why are people doing this? Is there a benefit to using charcoal toothpaste or is it all just for looks? Well one area that does make a lot of sense and that can really help parents and dentists keep the younger generation brushing is using charcoal toothpaste on your teeth. Having the ability to create a game out of brushing your teeth is now an amazing addition to helping kids brush their teeth. Now you can gross them out or excite them to brush and make sure their mouth looks like it's covered in mud! For little boys the more gross the better most of the time and for girls the health benefit of being like mommy or daddy is a really cool thing to do. Brothers and sisters can fight over who gets their mouth looking the dirtiest and yet still be the cleanest is really cool. But what about for us adults that actually want all the benefits of charcoal toothpaste, what does it really do. Well charcoal toothpaste is generally a whitener. It not only makes teeth whiter but can strengthen enamel and fight plaque all at the same time. It is a great addition to many toothpaste because it is an easy whitener. So if you are wanting to feel confident in your smile this may be the best thing for you. It can whiten your teeth and not do it with unnatural ingredients. It really is a nice addition for you or even your children if applicable. Now you can get the crest version of it and you can get all the benefits without the black staining look while brushing. It still gives you quick whitening capabilities without the charcoal look. So keep that in mind if you don't want the mud mouth look!

When I was about to get married I started to get really picky on things. I saw my body could be better and started to implement a crazy workout regime. I also saw that my teeth were really in need of whitening and decided to go to the extreme in this area as well. It turns out that the later decision was a very painful one and I wanted to go over why some whitening strips cause so much pain for some people. I never thought I had sensitive teeth, but once I started those I thought my teeth may actually fall out. I was still getting the white look that they promised but it felt like I may lose my teeth to get the benefits of crest white strips. I remember the cost being a big factor and it still is rather pricey to get strips or whitening kits. For me it looks like it was around 40 bucks at the very lowest price and up to 100 plus for some kits that did what looked like the same thing. I was still a bit shocked by the price and then thought about the pain happening and that I was actually paying for pain. On the box, tooth sensitivity, gum pain and general pain are said to be normal. These effects are supposed to be non permanent and general practice. It is stated they are short term issues and only continue while you are using the product. This absolutely boggles the mind that a item that causes pain is something that people still want. Well I would say welcome to America. This is a country where pain is acceptable as long as we look good doing it. The accelerated white stain essentially makes out teeth super sensitive to just about anything. For me cold drinks were a nightmare to drink once I started crest white strips and I was struggling to continue. But I needed white teeth for my wedding so I still stuck it out and went through the pain. The effects were indeed temporary as I do not have sensitive teeth now, but I was honestly worried i would lose my teeth from this product. If I can suggest I would instead use a charcoal toothpaste for whitening paste and start long ahead of when you need to have your teeth whitened. I wish I would have taken more time and not done the strips that caused me so much pain while eating and drinking for weeks. So be smart stay safe and stay out of pain. If you have a family then the probably was a little more complicated than your friends with no children. Not all family's made major changes and in some cases nothing changed, but for a vast majority of Americans the general work and shopping routines of their weekly life changed. So I was interested in how small things effect other areas of our lives. Dental health is always a major point and factor for our family and this pandemic caused us to change up lots of our routines and in some cases that was a really good thing. So I want to go over some changes we implemented and how we worked really hard to keep our teeth safe and white. Charcoal Toothpaste was a big hit during this year. It caused lots of fun to be had on TicTok and social media. Many games were invented and pictures certainly became more interesting with people running around with blackned mouths. It reminded me of a classic scene from the movie the Patriot all year long. But what it really did was allow the vast majority of people who tried it to get whiter teeth without using natural products. Most teeth whiteners are painful and cause issues with your health. But the best part of charcoal is it seems to be a natural whitener that is actually healthy. It is added into normal toothpaste and it seems to be very successful at getting teeth whiter without having bad after effects. I personally didn't trust it at first to be a safe toothpaste so, for my family we only brush with Charcoal toothpaste at night. It is a fun way to get kids to brush their teeth and it keeps my teeth a bit whiter. After a month I have noticed my teeth being a few shades whiter and that is fantastic. Especially with all the unhealthy coffee I drink. The whitening capabilities of it are impressive and my tooth sensitivity has not come into play with this as with crest whitestrips. The next area we improved on with our dental health was that we Added Flossing to our routine. This was an area that I was really not wanting to get into because it just seems gross. But I found these small disposable flossing sticks that also double as toothpicks. For me it was less gross to grab a plastic stick instead of dirty tooth floss. Plus I didn't want my hands in my mouth . So this was something we added at the end of the night. It went along right after our charcoal toothpaste and was a blast. Our final addition to the family routine with me working at home was we brush our teeth more. It doesn't sound like a hard thing to do but without pandemic. I am not sure we would be able to do it consistently. I am able to now brush my teeth 3 times a day and we all do it now. It was just a thing we started after we all eat lunch together. I would leave my office get lunch and after we all eat together a quick brush took place. Since we were unable to go to the dentists for our checkups we decided to go overboard for our own dental health. So far so good and we plan on keeping this up so we have less cavity issues in the long run! |
