About
It is a time of instability and change. The world we know is changing and it is not all for the good. This Covid-19 world wide pandemic has changed lifestyles across the world and we want to make sure that some important parts of our health are keeping up. I am talking about dental health and how it needs to be a part of the changes that are taking place. People are now changing the dieting habits from their normal everyday lifestyles. Some people are eating only processed canned foods now expecting that food will completely disappear and others are simply extending the amount of food they eat to a higher amount daily.
So what kind of toothbrush habits should we be making and changing with a new standard of living. Well if absolutely nothing changed for your lifestyle then keep doing what is recommended. That is brushing your teeth at least two times a day and flossing. It also means trying not to drink coffee right before or after brushing and that goes for acidic foods and drinks as well. The color and acid can actually harm your teeth more by eating or drinking right after brushing and that is a big problem that is widely unknown. The issue is that this can lead to faster tooth decay and thus lots of more dental issues down the road. If this can be avoided I would highly suggest it.

This leads me to some of the new challenges we are facing with many people changing the daily routines. The new normal for many people is to stay at home almost 100% more than normal. They are not going to work and staying at home all day long. This leads to a few habits that form when working from home. People are not following their normal morning routine and not showering or brushing their teeth as much. The new normal is also to eat and drink more at home because the food and drink are more available. This is a major problem for your dental health.
What you can do is to start by drinking more water. This is a natural cleaner that helps your saliva do its job. Then you can actually brush after each meal. This can help the extra food being eaten and the extra brush each day can help keep tartar down. Also make sure you are flossing and using mouthwash. This gives you the full spectrum of protection and with all the extra food and drink be had on average it can really help.
